Rapid Troubleshooting – Common Accidents and Emergency Handling Solutions for Gyratory Screens

复合振动筛常见事故及应急处理解决方案

In daily production, a malfunction of a Gyratory Screens often paralyzes the entire production line. Mastering the following quick diagnostic techniques can minimize downtime losses.

Fault 1: Insufficient screening accuracy (large amount of fine material enters the screen)

-Possible causes: Damaged screen mesh; poor seal between the screen mesh and frame (coarse material leakage).

-Emergency handling: Stop the machine immediately. If the screen mesh damage is minor, a repair patch can be used for temporary sealing (for metal mesh); if the damage is significant, the screen mesh must be replaced. Operating the machine while malfunctioning to increase production is strictly prohibited, as this will contaminate the finished product.

Fault 2: Material travels to one side (material concentrates on one side of the screen surface)

-Possible causes: Incorrect feed point; equipment not installed horizontally; broken suspension or support springs.

-Emergency handling: First check the springs. If a spring is found to be broken or jammed, do not force the machine to start. The spring assembly must be replaced, and the equipment's level must be readjusted (composite vibrating screens have extremely high requirements for levelness).

Fault 3: Equipment shakes violently and cannot operate normally

-Possible causes: Balance weight detached; universal joint of drive shaft damaged.

-Emergency handling: This situation is accompanied by a loud metallic clanging sound. The emergency stop button must be pressed. Do not restart until the cause is determined. Remove the protective cover and check if the drive shaft bolts are broken, or check if the eccentric block counterweight screws are loose.

Fault 4: Accident involving personnel or foreign objects (highest emergency level)

-On-site handling:

1. Immediately press the stop rope switch or emergency stop button to cut off the main power supply (not just stop the machine, but disconnect the power).

2. Reverse rotation: If personnel or clothing are caught in the drum or belt, after disconnecting the power, manually reverse the rotation of the rotary screen pulley to slowly remove the trapped object. Do not forcibly drag the injured person.

3. Report to rescue: Stop bleeding and immobilize the injured area. Immediately report the incident and send the injured person to the hospital. Preserve the original appearance of the accident scene for analysis.

Safe operating procedures are not meant to restrict efficiency, but to protect lives and equipment. For composite vibrating screens, remember the principle of "idle run first, then feed, stop and idle before cleaning" for long-term safety and reliability.
