Once you've determined that the square gyratory screen suits your process, the real challenge begins: how do you choose from the dazzling array of models and configurations on the market? This equipment is like an employee; choosing the right one makes it a capable worker, while choosing the wrong one makes it a constant source of trouble.
As a user, you need to focus on the following core configurations, as they directly determine the screen's performance and your user experience.
1. The Core "Heart": Drive System (Motor)
- Ordinary Motor + Counterweight: This is the most classic and economical choice. The swing amplitude is changed by adjusting the angle of the counterweight. Advantages include durability, low cost, and simple maintenance. Disadvantages include the need for manual operation after stopping the machine, making it less flexible.
- Variable Frequency Motor: This is a more modern choice. You can easily and steplessly adjust the screen's speed through a controller, thereby changing the screening efficiency and the material's trajectory on the screen surface. Advantages include convenient adjustment, precise adaptation to the characteristics of different materials, and multi-purpose functionality. Disadvantages include a slightly higher price.
How to Choose? If your production line always processes the same material, a standard motor will suffice. However, if you frequently need to change material types (e.g., sifting flour one day and sugar powder the next), a variable frequency motor can save you significant setup time and is the preferred choice for efficiency.
2. Key "Tentacles": Screen Material and Type
The screen is the part that directly contacts the material, making its selection crucial.
- Material: Stainless steel is a universal choice; it is corrosion-resistant, easy to clean, and meets food and pharmaceutical grade requirements. Polyurethane polymer screens have excellent wear resistance, making them particularly suitable for abrasive materials (such as quartz sand and mineral sand), and they also have low noise.
- Type: Common types include woven mesh and perforated plates. Woven mesh offers high precision and is suitable for fine powders. Perforated plates are more durable and suitable for larger particles or materials with a certain specific gravity. Tell the supplier your material particle size (mesh or millimeters), and they will recommend the appropriate type.
3. Customized "Tailor-Made": Screen Size and Number of Layers
- Size (Screen Width): From small experimental machines with a diameter of 400mm to large industrial machines exceeding 2000mm. The principle is "tailor-made." Your production volume determines the size. Choosing a large machine for a small production volume is wasteful, while choosing a small machine for a large production volume will severely restrict the entire line. Be sure to provide your expected hourly output (tons/hour) to the supplier.
- Number of Layers: Do you need to separate several different grades of finished products at once? Choose one layer of screen for two grades, two layers for three grades, and so on. The more layers, the more discharge ports at the bottom layer; the layout must be planned in advance.
4. "Details" Not to Be Overlooked
- Screen Cleaning Device: Even with a gyratory screen, auxiliary screen cleaning may be necessary when screening particularly fine or sticky materials. Inquire whether it is equipped with bouncing balls or an ultrasonic screen cleaning system; these are "safety nets" for maintaining screening efficiency.
- Discharge Port Design: Straight discharge or side-rotating discharge? This depends on the interface location of your downstream equipment; ensure a perfect connection to avoid material leakage.
Before contacting us, please prepare the following information, which will help you obtain the most accurate quote and solution:
1. Material name and its characteristics (humidity, viscosity, temperature, specific gravity, etc.).
2. Particle size range of raw materials and desired finished product (unit: "mesh" or "millimeters").
3. Expected hourly output.
4. Are there any special requirements (such as explosion-proof, fully enclosed, food-grade stainless steel, etc.)
